Game On a Nation: Hip Hop Intellectual

If economic and social justice is not put in place the have-nots will start taking from the have's. Serious attention needs to be placed on the economic development of Somalia and other areas of Africa. If a plan is not put in place to equalize this global situation of unbalanced economics, then these attacks by the pirates will continue.

If you were in your neighborhood and you could not buy a loaf of bread, yet there are loads of freight trucks going through you neighborhood. What would you do? Starve? Or take action?

Let's hear from the late great Tupac Shakur on this issue:

Here is a great example of "Game" that is being ran on the Nation. Fox News used the opportunity of the Somali Hostage situation to paint President Obama as weak. However the critical question that we must ask regarding this situation is "Why?"

We must use critical thought (which a lot of people lack) to understand the situation regarding these pirates and the hostage situation. Somalia was a colony of Britain and Italy until 1960, however the economic structure by the prior colonial powers was created to allow more imports (est. 800 million) to exports (est. 300 million). When your imports are greater than your exports you will have a poor nation.

There is also one key fact that the news failed to mention about the pirates, these pirates ranged from the age of 17 to 19. The pirates never killed or hurt any of the staff when they boarded the ship. They took one person to ensure their safety back to the coast. However the U.S. Navy took three lives to save one, and when you can spin that to be a successful campaign that’s game on a nation, folks.
