Game On a Nation: Hip Hop Intellectual

 
I know a lot of you were waiting for me to pay homage to the late great Gil Scott Heron. Well folks here is it, and I wanted to share one of his poems with you that brings into reality the human suffering of the lower economic classes of folks within the United States that are still being ignored by the Federal Government who is concentrating on space instead of the improving the lives of their citizens who are here on Earth.

Please pull up a chair and come sit down with your boy. What is your drink of choice? Ahhhhh I see, you like that french liqueur called, "la connaissance."

A couple of weeks ago the right wing media made a fuss when the rapper Common was invited to the White House to attend a poetry reading. Jon Stewart points out to Bill O'Reilly that there are a number of musicians who wrote songs about people who have been arrested for allegedly targeting police officers, and attending the White House and no one from the right wing protested.
