We must stop looking at Dr. King as a dreamer but more of a drum major for justice. The reason that I bring up dreamer versus drum major is because the dreamer is passive and the drum major is active. We must wake up from a dream and start marching our feet behind the drum major.
The conscience of African Americans must return to those previous levels of the 60s. In order for us to do that, the following behavior modifications must occur:
Start reading about your history
Start being conscience about what you are feeding your mind
Stop gossiping about one another
Stop name calling at each other
Stop curing at each other
Stop robbing from one another
Stop killing one another
Stop throwing trash where you live and where other live as well
Stop using and selling drugs to each other
Stop promoting the thinking of black children, that as children they can be adequate parents
Stop pretending that racism does not exist
I was inspired to post this piece after listening to Dr. Frances Cress Welsing talk about Dr. King, and I would like to share it with you in hopes that it inspires you to take some form of action. Good day, and forget about keeping a dream alive, keep the march moving forward.
