Game On a Nation: Hip Hop Intellectual

Sorry, that I have left you with such a long break, but I am back to try to shine some light on the Republican Presidential candidate Mitt Romney. How can anyone define a person who plays both sides of any debate? He is for gun control, then against gun control. He is for Health Care reform (his own state put it in place while he was Governor), then he is against it? He is against raises taxes, then he is for it? He is for abortion, then he is against it? If then candidate Obama in 2008 had the same flimsy record, he would have gotten as far as Herman Cain in his race for President. Mitt Romney is running nothing but game on the nation. Please review the video below to hear Mitt Romney in his own words speaking on both sides of key issues this election season.
Here is another gem from Lupe Fiasco where he uses music to explain how disparaging words like "Bitch" that is used to describe black women affects men, children, and women themselves. Lupe does not only blame the rappers and men, he also lays the blame at the feet of women who embraces the use of the word to describe themselves. My role of thumb is to treat all women as ladies, until they prove otherwise.  Enough of me talking, hear the lyrical genius from Lupe himself:

Chris Rock got a lot of slack on twitter for raising the fact that the independence of the United States did not mean independence for African Americans. In fact Chris Rock is just echoing the words of Fredrick Douglass, when Mr. Douglass gave a speech on that day and stated the following:

"... I do not hesitate to declare, with all my soul, that the character and conduct of this nation never looked blacker to me than on this 4th of July! Whether we turn to the declarations of the past, or to the professions of the present, the conduct of the nation seems equally hideous and revolting. America is false to the past, false to the present, and solemnly binds herself to be false to the future. Standing with God and the crushed and bleeding slave on this occasion, I will, in the name of humanity which is outraged, in the name of liberty which is fettered, in the name of the constitution and the Bible, which are disregarded and trampled upon, dare to call in question and to denounce, with all the emphasis I can command, everything that serves to perpetuate slavery-the great sin and shame of America! "I will not equivocate; I will not excuse;" I will use the severest language I can command; and yet not one word shall escape me that any man, whose judgment is not blinded by prejudice, or who is not at heart a slaveholder, shall not confess to be right and just." - What to the Slave is the Fourth of July by Fredrick Douglass (July 5, 1852)

For those of you who do not understand the Atlantic Slave Trade and the impact that it had on the world, then I invite you to watch the following video that explains it in manageable way.
If you were at Coachella this weekend, you got a surprise when  the legendary Tupac Shakur performed in front of a crowd. Okay, it was not him in person, but technology was used to create an actually hologram of his likeness that was so close to the real thing that it was very eerie. Watching Tupac on stage was eerie in deed because it makes you think where Mr. Shakur would be right now if he had lived that tragic night. At the same breath seeing him perform will make you forget about all of the current rappers out there. Tupac will allows be the zenith of Hip Hop culture and for many men out there the personification of man hood. See Tupac's performance for yourself, click the video below.
Jay Smooth has done it again with his brilliant rendition of his song "Phony" which cuts into the flip flopping stance of the GOP run runner Mitt Romney. Folks please get this a listen because in my opinion this is a master piece that needs to be shared with all. If you like that video then check out Jay Smooth's site ILL
We must stop looking at Dr. King as a dreamer but more of a drum major for justice. The reason that I bring up dreamer versus drum major is because the dreamer is passive and the drum major is active. We must wake up from a dream and start marching our feet behind the drum major.

The conscience of African Americans must return to those previous levels of the 60s. In order for us to do that, the following behavior modifications must occur:
  • Start reading about your history
  • Start being conscience about what you are feeding your mind
  • Stop gossiping about one another
  • Stop name calling at each other
  • Stop cursing at each other
  • Stop robbing from one another
  • Stop killing one another
  • Stop throwing trash where you live and where other live as well
  • Stop using and selling drugs to each other
  • Stop promoting the thinking of black children, that as children they can be adequate parents
  • Stop pretending that racism does not exist
I was inspired to post this piece after listening to Dr. Frances Cress Welsing talk about Dr. King, and I would like to share it with you in hopes that it inspires you to take some form of action. Good day, and forget about keeping a dream alive, keep the march moving forward.

Happy New Year everyone, and I know that you guys have been patiently waiting for the annual end of year rap up by your boy Skillz, well here it is hot out of the oven for you. So be careful that you don't burn your mouth getting a taste of the rap up, because 2011 was a crazy year.
This parody of the GOP debate is fantastic as aired on the Jimmy Kimmel Show, the GOP debates have really turned into a Peanut Gallery.
Jay Smooth from Ill Doctrine has the perfect analogy regarding the news media (mostly right wing) who tries to down play the Occupy Wall Street movement. But don't just listen to me, click below and hear the analysis straight from Jay Smooth's mouth.
Muammar Gaddafi was killed by the rebels with the assistance of NATO and other western powers. But most Americans do not understand what happen with this event, and most still do not understand who Gaddafi was. This speech that Gaddafi made in 2009 is pointing out the crimes and misuse of NATO. This is the same NATO that drops bombs and use drones over Libya under the guise that it is the rebels who are fighting Loyalist forces. This is like two kids (Rebels vs Loyalist) fighting after school, and a couple of adults (NATO & Western Powers) holding down the kid (Loyalist) so that the other kid (Rebels) can win the fight. This is the game that is being ran on this Nation.
